Dr. Crisp grew up in Trenton, Tennessee, and received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tennessee Martin. He graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 1981. He spent his first year of practice in Fulton, Kentucky and moved to Dyersburg in 1982. Dr. Crisp a member of the First United Methodist Church, he is a member and past president of the Dyersburg Noon Rotary Club, and a past member of the Dyer County Fair Board. He is married to Janna and has one son Austin and two stepsons Alexander and Harrison.

Dr. Crisp enjoys UT football, traveling, spending time at the lake and working on his farm. He has a golden retriever named "Knox", a minature collie named "Bella", and a cat named "Tigger".
