dr. james a. crisp
Dr. James A. Crisp
Dr. Crisp grew up in Trenton, Tennessee, and received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tennessee Martin. He graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 1981. He spent his first year of practice in Fulton, Kentucky, and moved to Dyersburg in 1982. Dr. Crisp is a member of the First United Methodist Church, he is a member and past president of the Dyersburg Noon Rotary Club, and a past member of the Dyer County Fair Board. He is married to Janna and has one son Austin and two stepsons, Alexander and Harrison.

Dr. Crisp enjoys UT football, traveling, spending time at the lake, and working on his farm. He has a golden retriever named “Knox”, a miniature collie named “Bella”, and a cat named “Tigger”.

Dr. John Harris
Dr. John M. Harris

Dr. Harris grew up in Troy, Tennessee, and graduated from the University of Tennessee, Martin in 1982, with a Bachelor of Animal Science. He graduated from The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 1985. Dr. Harris practiced three years in Weakley County and came to work for Dyer County Animal Hospital in 1988. He enjoys hunting, fishing and antique furniture.

He is a Deacon at the West Dyersburg Church of Christ. His wife of 36 years, Debbie is the director on the Community Cancer Fund for Dyer County. They have two daughters. Emilee is 31 years old is a nurse for St. Thomas in Nashville, TN. The younger of the two, Elizabeth, is 26 years old and is an account analyst for The Escape Game Company in Nashville, TN. Dr. Harris owns two dogs, “Roxie” and “Charlie” and a parrot named “Rascal”.

Dr Steve Allen
Dr. Steve Allen

Dr. Steve Allen has over 40 years of experience in veterinary medicine, including a strong background in surgery and ultrasonography. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 1983 and takes pride in delivering high-quality care to both patients and clients.

Outside of work, Dr. Allen enjoys farming, raising swine and chickens, landscaping, restoring vintage cars, and working on machinery. He is also a proud father of five children, 4 sons 1 daughter all of whom hold college degrees and professional degrees.

Louis Anderson
Louis, Practice Manager

Louis has been in the veterinary industry for 46 years. He has been exposed to the veterinary industry all of his life. He worked as a kennel tech, vet assistant, receptionist, trainer, and purchaser at his father’s veterinary clinics for 12 years. He started working for a paycheck when he was 9 years old.

He worked in veterinary distribution sales for 27 years, in veterinary equipment sales for 2 years, as a veterinary consultant for 5 years, and has been a practice manager for the past 8 months.

Louis attended both Austin Peay State University and the University of Tennessee at Martin during his academic journey. His goal is to make sure that the clinic provides the best possible medicine and care to every client’s fur babies.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, hunting, fishing, horseback riding, and baking.

He is the proud father to Dude (Golden Retriever), Ace (Doberman), Loki (Black cat), Thor (Orange tabby rescue cat), and Reba (Gaited saddle horse).

Chelsey, Lab Technician

Chelsey has been a dedicated part of the Dyer County Animal Hospital team for the past 4 years, bringing compassion, positivity, and a strong sense of connection to every patient and client she works with. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin, following her early education at Bradford K-12.

Chelsey takes pride in providing compassionate care to animals and values building strong, trusting relationships with pet parents.

Outside the clinic, Chelsey loves spending quality time with her husband and kids. She’s a proud pet parent to five animals—three dogs and two cats—and enjoys crime podcasts, audiobooks, iced coffee, and winding down with a little Fortnite.

Leslie, Lab Technician
With almost five years of experience in the veterinary field, Leslie is a dedicated and skilled member of our team. A graduate of Elmhurst, Leslie is passionate about providing “Fear-Free” care, ensuring every animal feels secure and loved while in our care. She believes it’s truly important that our patients have a positive experience.

When she’s not at the clinic, Leslie loves being outdoors and enjoys a wide range of activities. Spending quality time playing with her kids and dogs, keeping the lawn looking sharp, and unwinding by the pool are some of her favorite ways to spend her free time.

Fun fact: Leslie loves being active and enjoys just about anything that gets her outside!

Cynthia, Lab Technician

Since October 2011, Cynthia has been a dedicated and vital part of our team as our Inventory and Pharmacy Tech. Her commitment to our patients is evident in her focus on improving their well-being and building strong relationships with both the animals and their owners.

Outside of her important work at the clinic, Cynthia enjoys spending time riding horses, cheering on her sons at baseball games, and finding tranquility in her garden.

Fun fact: Cynthia has quite the animal family at home, including a horse, two mini donkeys, a sulcata tortoise, five dogs, and a cat! She also barrel raced for three years and is a proud mother of two boys.

Carolyn Shipley
Carolyn, Lab Technician

Carolyn has been in the veterinary industry for 2 years. She studied at Penn Foster and Dyer County High School.

She takes pride in giving owners support during difficult situations and loving each animal that comes through the door.

Outside of work, Carolyn enjoys reading and spending time outdoors with her husband and dogs.

A fun fact about her is that she loves iced coffee and Alanis, and she loves to read, listen to audiobooks, and to clean and organize.

Heather, Vet Assistant
With almost ten years in the veterinary field since 2016, Heather is a dedicated and skilled Vet Tech on our team. A graduate of Dyer County High School, class of 2015, Heather takes pride in the safety and comfort of our patients and her ability to help advocate for them.

Outside of her work, Heather enjoys spending time riding, fishing, and generally being outdoors.

Fun fact: Heather loves listening to all kinds of music, enjoys cooking, and loves hanging out with her dogs.

Holly, Vet Assistant

With 17 years of experience in the veterinary field, Holly brings dedication, compassion, and a great sense of humor to our team. A proud graduate of South Pemiscot, Holly takes pride in being a small part of something big—helping all furbabies, great and small, get the care they need to survive and thrive.

Outside of work, Holly loves spending time with her family and her furry companions. She enjoys camping, swimming, and occasionally going horseback riding. Relaxing in the great outdoors is one of her favorite ways to recharge.

Fun fact: Holly is the youngest of six kids and loves playing harmless jokes on people—her sense of fun keeps our clinic lively!

Brittany Dickson
Brittney, LVMT

Brittney has been in the veterinary industry for 12 years and is a Licensed Veterinary Medical Technician. She attended Lincoln Memorial University, where she developed her passion for veterinary medicine.

She prides herself on her experience as an ER/ICU technician, where she has handled all types of cases with skill and composure.

Outside of work, Brittney enjoys spending time with her children and best friends.

A fun fact about her is that she likes to collect and preserve wet and dry specimens (oddities).

Torri Horner
Torri, Vet Technician

Torri has been in the veterinary industry for almost two years. She attended Dyer County High School from grades 9 through 11 and later graduated from Gateway.

She takes pride in learning to work in all areas she’s placed in and in loving every animal and patient, no matter their situation.

Outside of work, Torri enjoys spending time with her child, boyfriend, and family. She shares her home with three Aussie mixes and many cats. She loves getting iced coffee, going on adventures with her child, spending time with her best friends, and having game nights.

Brittany Dickson
Tina, Receptionist
With an impressive 21 years in the industry, Tina is our experienced and dedicated Client Service Representative. A graduate of Dyersburg High School, Tina takes pride in providing great service and bringing comfort to our clients.

Outside of her work at the clinic, Tina is a talented singer with a passion for country music.

Fun fact: Tina is signed to Century II Record Label and has independent platinum records. In 2023, she received a Josie Music Award for Vocalist of the Year!

Kaitlyn
Kaitlyn, Receptionist
With two years of experience, Kaitlyn is a friendly and helpful Client Service Representative on our team. A graduate of UTM, Kaitlyn takes pride in helping clients and being a supportive and friendly face for them during tough times.

Outside of work, Kaitlyn enjoys spending time with her family and going to the dog park with her dog, Mocha.

Fun fact: Kaitlyn has a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Business and Production Management. She is also expecting a little girl in July and has a 3-year-old German Shepherd named Mocha!

Amy Campbell
Amy, Receptionist

With 29 years in the veterinary industry, Amy brings a deep well of experience and compassion to her role as a Client Service Representative. She attended Dyer County High School and Dyersburg State.

Amy takes great pride in being able to relate to and comfort clients during difficult moments with their beloved pets. Over the years, she has built many lasting friendships through her work, and she values the trust clients place in those who help care for their animals.

Outside the clinic, Amy enjoys camping, biking, watching baseball, and spending time with her family and the many animals on her mini farm. A fun fact about Amy—she’s completely obsessed with the game of baseball.

Hope Smith
Hope, Receptionist

Hope is a Client Service Representative with one year of experience in the veterinary industry. She attended DSCC, where her interest in client care and animal support continued to grow.

Hope prides herself on being a people person and enjoys getting to know clients as well as loving on the patients she meets each day.

A fun fact about Hope is that her family has somehow ended up with 12 cats and 2 dogs. It may be a lot, but they would not trade it for the world.

Outside of work, Hope is a devoted wife and mother who enjoys spending time with her family and their fur babies. She also teaches Sunday school and serves as the outreach coordinator at her church.

Jamie, Animal Caretaker
With over 20 years of experience in the veterinary field, Jamie is our dedicated and knowledgeable Kennel Technician. A graduate of Dyer County High School, Jamie takes great pride in taking excellent care of all our patients.

In her free time, Jamie loves spending quality time with her family and friends.

Annette Norman
Annette, Kennel Technician

Annette is a Kennel Technician with 15 years of experience in the veterinary industry. She graduated from Dyer County High School.

Annette takes pride in ensuring that the animals under her care are comfortable and well-looked after during their time at the clinic.

Outside of work, Annette enjoys cleaning her house and caring for her five-year-old. She also values having fun in her personal time.

Lauren Glover
Lauren, Kennel Technician

Lauren is a Kennel Technician with one year of experience in the veterinary field. She graduated from Ripley High School and is currently enrolled at Dyersburg State Community College.

Lauren takes pride in being open to learning and ensuring that every patient she cares for feels loved and supported.

She owns a Ball python and has a special love for all reptiles.

Outside of work, she enjoys reading books on her Kindle and spending time at home with her fur babies.

Tiffany Chapman
Tiffany, Kennel Technician

Tiffany is a Kennel Technician with eight years of experience in the veterinary industry. She attended Crockett County High School.

Tiffany takes pride in ensuring the safety of every patient and treating them with kindness and calm care.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and pets. A fun fact about Tiffany is that she is very knowledgeable when it comes to working on older vehicles.
