DCAH advocates microchip identification as means of permanent identifications for your pet. Our hospital uses the AVID Friendchip. Microchipping can be done on an outpatient basis and many clients elect to microchip when their animal is spayed or neutered. A tiny microchip, the size of a grain of rice, is implanted using a syringe between the animal’s shoulder blades. This procedure takes just seconds and is virtually painless. Individual numbers are registered in the national database managed by the AVID Friendchip Microchipping services.
Our facility maintains a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products, and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. Our pharmacy stocks a wide range of the prescription medications for many ailments which affect your four-legged friends. Our hospital also works in close contact with compounding pharmacies to ensure that medications are prepared in formulations that are easy for owners to administer and patients to take with minimal stress.
Individualized Flea/Tick Control Programs
Our Veterinarians develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. Our staff will review with you the best ways to control fleas and ticks in your house, in your yard, and on your pet.
Some pets require special food, and all pets benefit from a balanced diet. At DCHA we carry Hill’s Science Diet and Prescription Diets for all of your pet’s nutritional needs. With new research showing diet can control or slow progression of many disease processes, optimal nutrition is important in every pet’s nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.
Saying goodbye to a long-time friend is difficult and painful. Our staff will work with clients to ensure their pet’s comfort and dignity, and strive to make this difficult situation as easy as possible. Our hospital offers cremation services as well.
